Finding the Frame
While browsing on Facebook recently, my mom saw this ad for a company called Frame & Tail. The customer uploads a photo of a pet (or pets) or a person and chooses a background into which the photo is merged. This sounded like fun, so she uploaded my smiling photo and browsed the various options into which it could be placed. JACKPOT! One of the backgrounds was labeled “Catzilla,” which sounded just about “purrfect.”
Mom selected an 8″ x 10″ print in a black frame and placed her order. The company sent a downloadable photo, which appears below:
Fitting the Photo
At work, Mom’s computer has a slideshow of photos that serves as her Windows desktop. She thought it would be fun to have me, in my role as Catzilla, appear in the rotation. The problem: her slideshow photos are landscape (1600 px by 900 px), but the Catzilla photo is portrait orientation. The potential solution: Mom remembered a recent email from ChatGPT about its ability to create or alter images. Hmmm! Could ChatGpt work in this situation?
Mom signed into her ChatGPT (free) account and posed the following question:
I have an image 900 px high and 720 px wide at 300 dpi. I would like to create an image in which my original image is centered, and the background (a scene from Godzilla destroying a city) is supplemented so the final is 1600 px wide and 900 px tall. Can you do this?
Yes. I can do that.
Please upload your 720 × 900 pixel original image. I’ll create a 1600 × 900 pixel landscape image, keeping your original centered at its existing size and extending the sides with a Godzilla-destroying-a-city scene that blends naturally with the original image.
I’ll preserve the original image itself rather than altering or resizing it.
